MD2 WEEK10

This week, we added the technical aspects to the game flow chart. After meeting with Shaun, it was made aware to us that the game flow chart needed more detail. It needed to be more specific. After the meeting we went on to add in game play directions and movements that will need to be coded into the game. We used arrows for drag and drop actions and circles for tap actions.

Updated Gameflow Chart
After finalising the game flow chart, we began to research into tutorials that we could use for the interactivity of the game, such as drag and drop.  Below are some of the video's we watched. Hopefully these can be of aid to us when we code the the game in Adobe Animate.

We also looked into settings pages in e-learning games for children. We were unsure exactly what to put into the settings page of our game so we looked for inspiration from other e-learning games such as duolingo. We found this website really helpful when researching what to include in our settings page: https://www.giantbomb.com/options-menu/3015-6644/

After carrying out our research, we have decided to keep the settings page quite simple and only have two options.  The settings page will include music/fx options and difficulty options. The player will be able to change the level of difficulty to suit their needs, such as easy, intermediate and hard.

  1. Hey Nicole,

I really enjoyed reading through your game blog for week 10 for the project this semester. I find the idea for your game to be really cool and interesting. After reading through your blog and viewing your screenshots from what you have done in the Adobe software I feel like you have a real grasp on what you want to create and how you want to go about doing it. So far your game looks really impressive and interesting. What kind of style of game are you going for? What theme are you going for in your game? What's your stylistic approach for the characters in your game? From looking at your progress I can see that you are doing very well. Overall I find your game idea to be really well thought out and unique. You illustrate your ideas really from what I can see from your images in your blog post. I look forward to seeing the development of the game as the weeks progress and the final result. Good luck with the development of your game!

  2. Hi Nicole
I enjoyed reading your blog and you game looks to be coming along well. The updated gameflow chart looks good and will help in designing your game the way you want it. Hopefully the tutorials you have will help in coding your game as it can be annoying viewing many videos to find what you need. It is best to keep the settings page small and simple as we all should only use the necessary features we need instead of having loads of features like you would see in a big triple a game. Good luck with the rest of your project and I look forward to seeing your final game.
