An image of Animal Crossing Gameplay. I really enjoyed this cozy game as a child. I believe this is a perfect example of a "Cozy Game" |
I lose concentration easy if I am reading for a long time. I also find it quite daunting to see hundreds of words of reading. I will retain information longer if I hear something or see something. I really enjoy Ted Talks and animation videos that explain topics thoroughly.
When I don't fully understand something I tend to watch a YouTube video on the topic and I find this really helps me. I understand that the whole objective of these reading and writing assignments every week is to expand on our skills in these areas but I think a healthy balance of both would be really beneficial. That way, all types of learner would be catered for, not just reading/writing learners which is what these assignments are aimed at. I have chatted to a few of my peers about the readings and many are like me in the way that they find the readings quite challenging.
What I did get from the readings I made us of in my game. My favourite reading post was about the "Cozy Games" because I played a lot of this sort of game when I was younger. I never realised that these games had their own category so I was shocked when I found out that the type of games that I like are called "Cozy Games". I enjoyed learning about the traits of "Cozy Games" as I was able to recognise nearly all the traits in the games I played. I found this really interesting.
Here is the link to the "Cozy Games" article I loved.
I am really happy with how my game is coming along. I have learnt a lot from the Jimmy Vegas tutorials. They were easy to follow and I feel I have learnt quite a lot in a short space of time. I have realised I really enjoy creating the aesthetics of the game. I thoroughly enjoyed creating my prototype and seeing everything coming together in real life. I had an idea of what I wanted the game to look like in my mind and to see it come together just how I imagined it was really exciting for me.
Moving forward, I am really excited to see how my game will turn out. It's really nice to see my game finally coming together after all these months of research and learning. It's nice to put what I've learnt to practice, finally. In relation to the reading/writing aspect of this module, moving forward I think I will watch YouTube videos about the topic to gain a better understanding of the topic.
