A screenshot of my game so far. |
I started off by using the basic set up skills I learned from the Jimmy Vegas Tutorials. I added a FPS controller, and terrain. I played around with the terrain by creating snow mountains.

I then realised I do not have any snow materials that I could use on my terrain to make the mountains look like they have snow on them so I began to search the Asset Store.
On the Asset Store I found a free package that contains a snowy mountain which is perfect for my project. It fits in well. I thought a material may come with this package that I would be able to make use of on my mountains but I was wrong but, I did make use of the skybox that comes with the package and the mountain that comes with it too.

I then went on to research penguins on the Unity Asset Store. I soon found out that many of the penguins have to be paid for to be able to download. I found a package that contains different toy animals. I thought the penguin in this package would be perfect for my game so I downloaded it.

I then went on to play around with the terrain of the game a bit more and soon added holes into the terrain. These holes will become the fishing holes that the fish will jump out of in gameplay. I added water to these holes. I used the water from the Standard Assets Package. There will be six fishing holes.
I still need to find a material that resembles snow for the terrain of the game. I'd also like to find a material that is darker for the tip of the mountains to resemble the other mountain from the package I have in the game. I have put the FPS Controller onto the toy penguin but have still yet to find out whether or not it works properly since it is only a toy penguin. I wonder if that matters.
I have long way to go as far as game mechanics but I'm happy with my start and I am excited for the next phase.
