Workshop 01

This topic is something that is unfamiliar to me. It's not everyday that you are asked to explain how traffic lights work to someone. I don't drive so maybe if I drove I'd give more thought to traffic lights. The extent to which I think about traffic lights as a pedestrian is waiting on the green man to flash. The topic of traffic lights isn't something I give much thought to and I was surprised at how difficult it was to explain something that seems so simple.

Perhaps it was the simplicity of the topic that made it so difficult to explain. Through this exercise, I have learnt how important communication is to get your point across. I have also learnt how important it is to take into account your peers' thoughts and ideas as you can help each other. As the old saying goes, two heads are better than one, and this was completely true in this case.

I liked the interactivity of this task. It was something different to do in a lecture other than listening, reading and writing. It made the lecture more memorable because we interacted with one another and were able to discuss freely whereas normally during lectures our thoughts have to be kept to ourselves into the end of the lecture. I enjoyed the discussion.

I like having to write about my experience, it rejogs my memory of the days lecture topic. I think reflecting in the evening about what I have learnt during the day helps you remember the information you have learned.

I like the idea of blogging, its like having a diary that will document what I do in Multimedia Development, I like that if I ever come into a problem I can refer back to my blog to help me.
