Introduction to a future Multimedia Developer

Hello! My name is Nicole, I am 19 years old.

The best class I took last semester was Design Process and Practice. I really liked that class because I find graphic design really interesting. I enjoyed being creative and having the freedom to create what I liked. I also enjoyed learning about the whole process behind design in the industry, it was exciting to learn the real life process that graphic designers use everyday. It made me look forward to learning more about it and working in the industry.

The goal for each of my modules this year is to learn new skills and learn new information whether it be a topic that I already know a lot about or have just newly started studying like this module. My goal for this module is to succeed in making a game by the end of the year. I have never studied anything like this before so I am interested to see what it has in store. I'm not particularly into gaming, I was when I was younger. I was always on my Nintendo DS as a child and would always play the Wii after school. I was into most of the social gaming sites that were big when I was in primary school; Club Penguin, Stardom etc. I liked the interaction involved in the game, I found it fascinating how you could speak to people from different parts of the world from your own living room.

Even though I have grown away from such games I do still enjoy playing The Sims on my laptop. I'm not a big fan of playing games on my phone but if I am going to play a game on my phone it would be a word puzzle game or an interactive restaurant game.

Over the summer I spent a lot of time with my friends and family. I worked a lot, I had dinner in the First Date's Ireland Restaurant, I went to Taylor's Swift Reputation tour concert in Croke Park for free because my friend won tickets, I went to see the Riverdance in Dublin, I went on a Spa day with my two best friends, I went for afternoon tea with my two grannies in The Westbury for my birthday, I babysat a lot, I went to Galway for a weekend. I celebrated many of my friends birthdays with them and I also celebrated my own 19th birthday over the summer too.

I went to Madrid for five days in July for my Birthday. Madrid is a beautiful city. We stayed in a fabulous hotel in the suburbs which meant we were a bit out of the way of the city but there was nowhere we couldn't get to by metro. There was quite a language barrier in the suburbs where we were staying, not many people spoke English or were willing to speak English to us which was meant it was quite difficult to communicate sometimes. It was very hot during the day which made sightseeing all day quite tiring. We went to El Retiro Park, The Royal Palace, The Bernabeu Stadium, Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía and much more. Madrid is a lovely city which has a nice atmosphere, there's a lot to see and do. It was a jam-packed few days but I enjoyed soaking in the different culture and sights!

  1. haha I used to be obsessed with club penguin when I was much younger. It was such a great interactive game at the time. I remember many of my friends playing and we would go and play at the same time. Really nice images of your holiday in Madrid for your birthday! It looks beautiful there. Your time sounds amazing. I was at that Taylor Swift concert, I got free tickets too. It was awesome.
